Lloyd's Building on a Sunny Day is a London architecture art print by London artist Paola Minekov.
Commissioned for the Going for Gold Ball in 2012, there are two versions of Paola Minekov’s Lloyd’s Building paintings. She had to paint two nearly identical scenes that could hang alone or as a pair. After a day of exploring, photographing and sketching, she noticed how the reflections on the building changed colour with the light, and the idea for the two paintings was born. Much as Monet painted Rouen Cathedral again and again, Paola created two very different works of the same subject. Both paintings were sold at auction at the ball.
On a Sunny Day is the warmer of the pair. Looking up at the building, its steel and glass break into bright planes of yellow, orange and red against a clear pale blue sky, as if the whole structure is lit from within by the midday sun.
Hang it on its own or as a pair with Lloyd's Building in the Evening. A bold, cheerful piece of London architecture art for an office, kitchen or living room, and a fitting gift for anyone who works in the City.
